Educator Supported Candidates Win Unanimously in 2021 Denver School Board Election
DENVER– On Tuesday, Nov. 2 Denver voters chose to elect Xochitl Gaytan, Dr. Carrie Olson, Michelle Quattlebaum and Scott Esserman over corporation backed candidates to the Denver Public Schools (DPS) Board.
“Denver voters have clearly shown that they value the voices of educators and recognize the type of leadership and change needed to lead Denver Public Schools into the future,” said Rob Gould, special education teacher and president of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association “We are proud to congratulate Xochitl Gaytan, Dr. Carrie Olson, Michelle Quattlebaum and Scott Esserman on their elections to the DPS board.
“This victory would not be possible without the strong voices of educators, students, families and workers across Denver. We look forward to working alongside the school board and Dr. Marrero to ensure our students and educators have all the resources and supports necessary to have high quality learning environments and strong public schools regardless of a school’s zip code.”
