“As educators, we have a responsibility to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and welcomed in our schools—regardless of their background, race, zip code, or gender identity. Every student deserves to be respected for who they are and to have equitable access to the facilities, resources, and support necessary for their success and well-being.
“Just one week into Trump’s administration, student-led efforts to create safe and inclusive school environments are being twisted into false narratives designed to divide our communities and undermine public schools. These recent attacks not only disregard the voices of students but create unnecessary distractions in both students and educators’ working and learning environments.
Research shows that LGBTQ+-inclusive policies improve student well-being, reduce bullying, and enhance academic performance. Instead of engaging in divisive tactics from the current administration, we remain focused on supporting students’ learning, physical health, and mental well-being. Educators will continue advocating for expanded resources in our schools, not the elimination of the supports our students need and deserve.
