The Denver Classroom Teachers Association’s (DCTA) Celebrates the Denver Public Schools (DPS) Board of Education 2025 Election Results. The following statement can be attributed to Rob Gould, special education teacher and DCTA president:
“Denver voters made it clear that they trust educators to make decisions about what is best for Denver Public Schools students, over billionaire-backed private interests,” said Rob Gould, special education teacher and president of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association (DCTA). “Nearly $2 million was spent to defeat candidates backed by Denver Public Schools (DPS) educators who support students daily, but these results are a testament to what is possible when we organize and harness the power of people!”
“We are proud to congratulate DCTA endorsed candidates: Amy Klein Molk, Xochitl Gaytan, Dr. DJ Torres, and Monica Hunter on their election to the Denver Public Schools Board of Education. In addition, we celebrate the passage of statewide ballot measures LL and MM, which ensures that every student has access to free school meals. Students can’t learn when they are hungry and we are thankful that voters agreed to support students with healthy meals for all.
“Throughout their campaigns, DCTA endorsed candidates spoke about supporting educators, improving student achievement and school safety, lowering class sizes, and increasing educator pay. While we celebrate the results of this election today, we look forward to addressing many of the issues that currently exist in DPS.
“Moving forward, we will remain vigilant in ensuring board members uphold their commitments to Denver’s students, educators, families, and community. No matter who governs our district, we are committed to working collaboratively with all leaders to ensure every student and staff member can thrive in DPS while continuing to hold leadership accountable to the promises made to our communities.
“Come December, new board members will be sworn in. We are calling on both current and incoming members to work with educators to address our shared challenges by putting forward a mill levy that invests directly in classrooms, supports staffing, and provides the resources every student needs to succeed.”
