DCTA 3/20/25 Financial Bargaining Recap

March 20, 2025

Post Issues: Advocacy, Bargaining
Post Type: DCTA News, Member Update

After attending the rally on March 20, 2025, shutting down nearly 80% of schools, DCTA members packed the room at financial bargaining just hours later. Our collective action and strong presence sent a clear message to the district: we are united for our schools, and we will not back down until we win a contract that respects, pays, and values Denver educators.

DCTA Bargaining Team’s Key Financial Proposals:

  • A 25-step salary schedule with lanes for longevity
  • A 7.67% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) to keep up with inflation
  • Professional experience credit for CTE educators and ESLIs

DCTA Bargaining Team’s Proposed Salary Schedule:

Teacher 25 step pay proposal with starting salary of $59,495.

The district also presented their initial pay proposal, which included an insulting 0.47% raise. For the educators who consistently show up and go above and beyond for DPS students, the district’s proposal is not only out of touch—it’s a slap in the face to those who are in schools supporting students every day.

We know our value. And we’re done settling for less while being asked to do more. That’s why your continued presence is so powerful! Keep showing up to bargaining and making our demands heard loud and clear: Respect us. Pay us. Value Us.
