Summary

During this session, we presented propoals on Assults, Discipline, and Substitute Teachers. In April, we’ll move into counter-proposals, where our team will debate key issues and elevate member stories at the table.

On Monday, March 3, the DCTA Bargaining Team continued presenting our initial contract proposals to the district. Once again, the room was packed—your presence was felt by both the district and our bargaining team!

This was the second of five sessions dedicated to presenting proposals. In April, we’ll move into counter-proposals, where our team will debate key issues and elevate member stories at the table.

Key DCTA Proposals from this Session:

  • Assaults (Article 17) – We proposed that educators injured on the job be granted up to eight (8) days of trauma leave without loss of pay, upon request.
  • Discipline (Article 18) – We proposed implementing a standardized system for documenting behavioral issues, with a designated administrator overseeing compliance, staff training, and consistent incident documentation to support student needs.
  • Substitute Teachers (Article 25) – We proposed protections allowing educators to decline administrator requests for classroom coverage and advocated for retired DPS educators to receive substitute pay at the average educator salary rate.

Let’s continue showing up to bargaining sessions in full force and let’s demand that DPS respects, pays and values its committed and dedicated educators who serve students every day! Join us at the next bargaining session at 5 PM on Monday, March 10, at the DPS Acoma Campus (1617 S Acoma St, Denver, CO 80223).
