In order for us to win a fair contract, DCTA members will have to show a great level of commitment and perseverance, because DPS will not change their stance on important issues, unless they are forced to do so. This fact has never been more clear than it was last night at bargaining. With Susana and Tom in attendance, the District presented its Article 10 counter proposal on evaluations, with no changes from the status quo.
The night started out with the District presenting a partial list of concerns raised by your DCTA Bargaining Team, but unfortunately, their proposal addressed none of them. The team and the crowd made it clear that we need contract language to address issues with evaluations, and that simply showing up and not speaking is not bargaining.
It’s time for the District to bargain in good faith and participate in the discussion, including Tom and Susanna, so that we can begin to solve complex and difficult issues.
